Magic Show. 2010 silent movie by Brad J. Aldridge
Video element of installation by California artist Brad Aldridge. This looping film plays endlessly inside a dark room.
The images are projected onto a disc that hovers in the center of the room. As one stands in the room, the silence of the film is broken by the light rumble of the projector, hidden away overhead.
Taking a nod to magician-turned-movie-maker Georges Méliès the looping silent film shows the story of a palace magician who, in his fervor to win over the audience, accidentally reveals the secrets behind his magic, and the magic of film itself.
